In the summer of 1997, fate struck suddenly when the renowned fashion designer Gianni Versace was shot dead in front of his villa in Miami Beach, Florida. Tonight, fate strikes again—beastly and brutal as ever—but this time Gianni’s sister is the target: Donatella, the muse left behind. Tonight we present Donatella Versace with a tragedy. We give her a stage to ascend, a space to fill with screams and wails, a floor to spit her sorrow upon, and a platform to display her version of the truth. Tonight we celebrate family ties. We honor imagination and perseverance. But above all, we celebrate two enfants terribles who conquered the fashion world with their boundless individuality.​
